  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh coriander and mint leaves

Making Process – Step-by-Step

Step 1: Preparing the Rice

Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Boil water in a large pot and cook the rice until it is about 70% cooked. Drain the rice and set it aside. This step ensures the rice finishes cooking perfectly later.


Step 2: Cooking the Chicken

Heat oil in a large pot and add sliced onions. Fry until golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 1 minute. Add chicken pieces, salt, chili powder, turmeric, and tomatoes. Cook for 10–15 minutes until the chicken begins to soften.


Step 3: Adding Yogurt and Spices

Add yogurt and garam masala to the chicken. Mix well and cook for another 10 minutes until the chicken becomes tender and the oil separates from the mixture.


Step 4: Layering and Final Cooking

Add a layer of rice over the chicken. Sprinkle coriander and mint leaves. Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes. This allows the flavors to combine. Serve hot.
